Youth Group - Annual Report - Year 2007

During 2007, the youth from NPC have been busy with events that provided them an opportunity to grow in the Lord and serve others while enjoying the companionship of other young people.

We started the year off by attending the "Ignite the Flame" prayer and worship event on January 20th which was sponsored the Franklin Graham committee. This was the first time most of us had participated in an event like this and it was exciting to see so many area young people worshipping God with so much energy. Later that month the youth conducted the annual "Souper Bowl" collection to help fight hunger.

In February we held a cross country skiing and sledding party. There was a huge turnout and we all had a great time. Later that month, many of our youth participated in the 30 hour famine event which raised money to help fight world hunger.

In March we attended the "Rock the City" concert. Another event sponsored by the Franklin Graham team. Sixteen youth and three adults from NPC made the trip to Binghamton that night. It was an awesome experience to see over 150 youth make a decision for Christ that night.

In April we spent an afternoon raking and doing other yard work around the church followed by a time of fellowship in the Parish Hall.

The month of May marked our first participation in the Relay for Life. This was an outstanding event and it was a blessing for all as we worked to raise money to help find a cure for Cancer. We stayed up all night and there wasn't a single complaint when it was each person's turn to take their laps around the track. Our team raised over a thousand dollars, and we hope to raise even more this year.

In June we attended the Franklin Graham event at SUNY Binghamton. Our youth group had almost 100% participation and several guests. This was our first crusade of faith and it made a lasting impact as several of our members reconfirmed their faith and two made their first time decisions.

In July, five members of our youth group attended the week long Triennium event.

Over the summer we took a canoe trip, and followed up with a second canoe trip in early September. We love the canoes and are thankful for the recreational opportunity they provide. After the September trip, we held a youth group meeting at which we planned our fall activities and voted to support Operation Christmas Child and Orphan Cry ministries.

In October, we went on a trail ride at the Path of Life Camp; after which we wrapped shoeboxes for Samaritan's Purse.

We continued Operation Christmas Child activities in November with a "shoe box shopping" trip. Our youth group members spent a lot of time thinking about her/his child, praying for her/him and were so excited purchasing gifts for others.

Fourteen youth group members, two adults ( thanks !!! Pastor Emrys ) traveled to Erie for the annual "Splash Lagoon". This was an all night indoor water park event sponsored by the Family Life Network. Every one loved the event, a great opportunity to hear the Word of God with several hundred other young people. The adults survived.

In December, the youth group went Christmas Caroling to ten homes. It was cold, but the wonderful songs of this season warmed everyone's heart, and the hearts of those we visited.

Throughout the year, members of the youth group helped at church breakfasts, dinners and Christmas Town. Devotionals were part of each event. It was a busy year, our youth group members grew in the Lord and had a wonderful time.

We have a great group of kids!

Praise the Lord!!!
